Croatia

The Dalmatian experience

Dalmatia possesses Europe's most dramatic shoreline. Sail through turquoise water and follow the spotted coast that unravels along the western edge of Croatia. Here, shimmering water, gentle sailing winds, yacht-sprinkled inlets and tranquil bays await.

The Dalmatian Islands offer metropolitan marinas, with chic waterfront bars and buzzing gourmet restaurants that contrast with laid-back, Venetian seaside towns, framed by unspoilt bays.

Step back in time and explore the beautifully preserved gothic chapels and century-old harbours, fringed by palms and overlooked by arid hills, or drop anchor and jump into the deep, cooling waters of an undiscovered cove.

Sailing the Dalmatian Islands offers something for everyone, indulge on an unforgettable sailing holiday with Eclipse Yachting.

Sailing in Croatia

There are wonderful historical and cultural riches for those who want to spend some time on land: Trogir and Dubrovnik (another stunning UNESCO world heritage town), the islands of Hvar and Korcula with their beautifully preserved renaissance architecture, and the traditional unspoiled Dalmatian villages of Vis or Brac. There are also beautiful national parks; Mljet and Telascica, the Krka Waterfalls and the Kornati islands.

A typical one-week route usually consists of 20 to 30 mile hops (about 4 hours) each day. This allows plenty of time for sailing but also time to stop for long lunches in picturesque bays as well as swimming and snorkelling. And it ensures that you arrive at your evening destination in time to explore and enjoy it before the sun goes down.

On our flagship two-week Dalmatian island cruise, you have more time and can cover greater distances. You may want to stay two nights in some places: to spend time visiting special historical sites, to explore some of the more popular islands, or just to spend time relaxing on a beach or chilling out on board.

How to get there?

Your Dalmatia sailing adventure begins at the Kastela marina which is only a short 15 minute drive from Split airport. You will be greeted at the airport by a friendly member of the Eclipse crew who will escort you to the marina, where your skipper will be waiting to welcome you onboard.

Split airport operates regular flights from all UK airports and most major European airports, such as; Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Zurich, Rome and Geneva.

Our yacht charter prices do not include flights, nevertheless, our well-informed team are more than happy to help organise flights and other travel arrangements to ensure that booking your holiday is plain sailing (please excuse the pun!).

We also offer free gated parking in Split for anyone driving.

How does it work?

Each holiday is different and we plan it with you based on what you’d like to do. We usually visit well-loved islands such as Hvar, Vis, Korcula, and Brac. But we also like to give our clients the opportunity to go off the beaten track and explore some of the more remote islands and anchorages, such as our favourite island of Lastovo.

Wind and Weather

Warm, dry summers and mild winters characterise the Dalmatian coast, making the most popular time to sail between the months of May and September - when the gentle northerly winds make for easy sailing. The average temperatures during the yacht season range between 22 and 29 degrees C.
